Workshop: Impact of Dialogue

Wed 10 June 2020, 19:30 - 22:00

‘What is the impact of Dialogues?’ many of you might have thought at some point. That’s what went through Maria’s head, too, when she was preparing for her Master thesis.

Maria Chatzidionysiou, our Greek intern from Utrecht University, with her background in Early Childhood Education and her specialty in ‘Inclusive Societies’ from Utrecht University, saw the opportunity where involvement  of the Dialogues’ methodology and education practice could be combined. Maria envisioned a possibility where Dialogues could be used as a tool against social polarisation and in favor of social inclusion in education and beyond.

But… who knows better than the people that are already engaged in Dialogues? What are the Dialogues participants, young or educators themselves, thinking about it and how do they define polarisation and inclusion in the first place? With these questions in mind, the research ‘The impressions of Dialogues and their educational use’ came to existence.

This Workshop Dialogues theme is inspired by the results of Maria’s research and in partnership with UNION. We will focus on how everyone experiences polarisation in society (segregation, discrimination) and the inclusion of people (feeling of belonging). What role Dialogues play in dealing with these issues in our work, our schools, around our family’s table?
