Dialoog op Internationale Vrouwendag met als thema ‘kunnen kiezen’, georganiseerd met Town & Gown in het University College Utrecht, Newtongebouw.

Op 8 maart organiseren Utrecht in Dialoog en Town and Gown (University College Utrecht) ter ere van Internationale Vrouwendag een dialoog met het thema ‘kunnen kiezen’. Dit jaar is deze dag extra bijzonder, omdat het vrouwenkiesrecht in Nederland dit jaar 100 jaar bestaat.

We starten de dialoog met een korte introductie over de geschiedenis en het belang van vrouwenkiesrecht. Daarna delen we onze ervaringen, onze dromen en onze toekomstige acties met betrekking tot dit onderwerp. Zowel studenten als andere geïnteresseerden zijn welkom om deel te nemen.

Dialogue meeting on International Women’s Day with Town and Gown on Having a choice at University College, Newtonbuilding.

On March 8, Utrecht in Dialogue and Town and Gown (University College Utrecht) will honor International Women’s Day with a dialogue on the theme “Having a Choice.” This year’s celebration is particularly significant, as 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the Netherlands.

How far have struggles for equal representation for men and women in politics come in the last hundred years? Where does progress still need to be made? And what concrete steps can we take, here and now in Utrecht, towards this goal?

We will begin with a brief talk on the history and significance of women’s voting rights. We will then sit down for dialogue on our experiences of voting and political participation, as well as our dreams and our plans future action. Both students and members of the wider community are warmly invited to attend. From 16:00 to 18:30 (Doors open 15:45).
