DESCRIPTION:In the Dialogue House\, experienced dialogue facilitators\, beginners\, and enthusiasts practice facilitating online dialogues\, difficult situations\, and new themes. You can simply join to get to know us and participate. Or if you want to research and discuss a theme. Curious? You can register via the red button and inform us regarding any special requests. Participation is free. \nFirst Wednesday Evening of the Month\nThe Dialogue House takes place every first Wednesday evening of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm online via Zoom and / or live on Maliebaan 45. Walk-in with zoom explanation takes place from 7:00 pm onwards. If a live meeting is possible\, you can also join us at Maliebaan 45. Registration is always required. SUMMARY:Languages at the dialogue table
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever sat at a dialogue table with participants who had a different mother tongue to you?  \nUtrecht in Dialogue prides itself on welcoming people from different backgrounds and perspectives to the dialogue table. While a large contingent are Dutch native speakers\, many participants bring different mother tongues with them. Perhaps they also speak fluent Dutch\, perhaps they rely on English to communicate in The Netherlands\, or perhaps they are trying to learn Dutch. With Dutch tables and English tables available\, participants can use dialogue to practice their skills in either language. If they are a language-learner\, what does this individual goal mean for the dialogue\, for other participants and for the language-learner themself? Does it add a new richness to the dialogue? Does it make connection harder? Does it change the nature of the dialogue? As part of her Master’s in Intercultural Communication at Utrecht University\, she has been investigating multilingualism at Utrecht in Dialogue by means of ethnographic observation and dialogue focus groups. In this workshop\, she presents her findings and recommendations to Utrecht in Dialogue\, its volunteers\, participants and partners\, and invites everyone to join in creating an inclusive approach to the multilingualism in dialogue. DESCRIPTION:We can still take a walk in the neighborhood! Time to get out and about\, meet new neighbors and discover north-east Utrecht! In this light-hearted dialogue series Meet & Stroll\, you will meet different people from the neighborhood and discover new places as we walk together towards a new spring! \nReal friends\nIn the seventh edition of the dialogue series Meet & Stroll we are talking about real friends. It is a theme at the heart of this dialogue series. Neighborhood resident Sjoerd van der Valk from Wittevrouwen started Ontmoet & Wandel under the motto ‘better a good neighbor than a distant friend‘. What does friendship mean to you? How do you create it and what does it bring you? What role do friends play in your life and what does it mean to be a good friend? How do you value your friends? How do you get in touch with them? What is your hope for the future when it comes to friendship and what step can you take to bring it closer? \nRoutes to choose from\nA. What did it make you feel?\nDream together: What does your ideal friendship look like?\nDo: What could you do to realise this ideal?\nEvaluate: What will you take away from this conversation?\n\nHow does it work?\n\nIn a first relaxing online meeting\, we will get to know each other\, get to know “Meet and Stroll”\, and get familiar with the theme of the first stroll. The meeting will take place online via Zoom on the third Wednesday of the month from 6 – 7 pm. Feel free to bring your dinner to the online meeting! Think of a question you would like to get asked by the way of a first introduction. And what would you like to know about the other person?\nYou agree to go for an in-person walk in the neighborhood with a neighbor. This stroll will take place on the following Saturday at 10:30 am. You will receive a suggestion in advance for a meeting point\, route\, and a guide with questions about the theme of this Meet and Stroll. The guidelines are based on the principles of appreciative inquiry.\nIn the next relaxed online meeting\, we will harvest what the Meet & Stroll has brought to everyone\, meet new participants\, and introduce the theme of the next Meet & Stroll.
