During the training\, you will get to know what an appreciative dialogue is\, requirements for it and how it is structured. SUMMARY:The Youth Dialogue: meeting each other
DESCRIPTION:The ideal world of Instagram and Snapchat\, full of hashtags like #lovemyfriends\, #happytime and #party. Everything is fantastic\, everyone has friends and has the time of their lives. Social media creates an image from which you as a youngster can hardly get away from. The pressure is high\, if you do not participate\, you do not belong and you are excluded. Everything has to be ‘fun’ and if you can’t join the circus\, there is no place for you. \nDo you sometimes feel alone\, are you looking for connection\, do you want to meet others and are you looking for young people like you or young people who are just different? Maybe you have some friends\, but you miss depth in conversations or ‘something’. \nIn this youth dialogue with the Friendship Project at the Kargadoor you can meet other young people\, share your experiences and listen to the experiences of others. Together we explore ideals and dreams\, formulate what we can do to really meet each other as young people and find out what this can mean. \nMeeting each other\nWhen you think of ‘meeting each other’\, many questions may arise. What is that really? Does it happen in a surprising new meeting with strangers or in an appointment with someone you have known for a long time? Why is meeting each other actually important\, is it always like this or is it part of special moments? How do you meet other young people in your environment and how do you deal with new young people in your environment? Do you offer them a warm welcome or do you prefer to keep them at a distance? When do you actually have real contact? What do those small talk conversations mean\, how do you build a bond with someone\, what do you need for a meaningful meeting? \nWhat is a dialogue?\nA dialogue is a conversation\, people talk to each other about things that concern them.\nCharacteristics of such a dialogue are that one listens attentively to each other’s personal experiences\, investigates together what it means and while talking strives for a deeper insight. DESCRIPTION:This training is aimed at people who have attended at least three dialogues\, and who would like to learn to facilitate a dialogue. Ever wonder how you can encourage an engaging conversation about sensitive topics? How you can ask the right questions\, and provide a structure that allows others to open their hearts? You will learn it during this training! To sign up\, click the red button above.  \n \nThe purpose of facilitating a dialogue is to stimulate thinking\, growth\, and change that lead to action. The more you practice being curious and asking questions with an open heart\, the more you will get positive results from your conversations with others. \nThe training\nWe invite you to take part in this English-language training session\, where you will practice facilitating a dialogue and learn about our guiding principles. During the training\, you will get to know what an engaging dialogue is\, and how it is structured. A dialogue follows four steps: 1) getting acquainted 2) sharing and exchanging one’s experiences 3) envisioning new possibilities 4) formulating concrete actions. The online training consists of a video you watch before the training and practicing facilitating in a Zoom-meeting. \nDialogue Skills\n \nIn addition\, we will be examining several skills that you can incorporate into your daily conversations with friends\, family\, or colleagues. The skills needed for  productive conversations involve committed listening and asking the ‘right’ questions. To practice these skills in-depth we will focus on the following: \n\nLearning the method of appreciative inquiry.\nWorking on the three essential skills for a dialogue: (1) committed listening\, (2) asking the right questions\, and (3) giving constructive feedback.\n\nNext step\nAfter this training session\, you can start practice facilitating a dialogue together with experienced people in the Dialogue House. Get in touch with us! \n \nWhat does family mean to you? What role does it play in your life? And how are you dealing with the changing ways of contact in these times? Do you have to worry about your family\, or do you get support from them? On Thursday\, April 9th\, we will discuss this theme with each other through an online dialogue. \nFamily\nFamily is important to many people\, although for some\, it is a difficult part of life. What role does family play for you? Do you feel connected to them? Are there people who you grew up with\, who know you through-and-through\, and people who you still speak to often? Maybe you grew up in a tight-knit family\, or in another circumstance where there was little contact with family. For you\, is family a place where you belong? DESCRIPTION:‘What is the impact of Dialogues?’ many of you might have thought at some point. That’s what went through Maria’s head\, too\, when she was preparing for her Master thesis. \nMaria Chatzidionysiou\, our Greek intern from Utrecht University\, with her background in Early Childhood Education and her specialty in ‘Inclusive Societies’ from Utrecht University\, saw the opportunity where involvement  of the Dialogues’ methodology and education practice could be combined. Maria envisioned a possibility where Dialogues could be used as a tool against social polarisation and in favor of social inclusion in education and beyond. \nBut… who knows better than the people that are already engaged in Dialogues? What are the Dialogues participants\, young or educators themselves\, thinking about it and how do they define polarisation and inclusion in the first place? With these questions in mind\, the research ‘The impressions of Dialogues and their educational use’ came to existence. \nThis Workshop Dialogues theme is inspired by the results of Maria’s research and in partnership with UNION. We will focus on how everyone experiences polarisation in society (segregation\, discrimination) and the inclusion of people (feeling of belonging). DESCRIPTION:At the DialogueLab actively involved parties\, partners and volunteers of Utrecht in Dialogue make events together. Every second Thursday afternoon and every fourth Tuesday evening of the month. On Tuesday we meet at Maliebaan45 and on Thursday we meet at the Alchemist. You can also join the DialogueLab online via Zoom. \nAfter the basic workshop Organizing Dialogue you can work with more experienced volunteers / stakeholders every month on organizing and communicating dialogue meetings in your organization\, neighborhood\, school\, sports club or living area. DESCRIPTION:Is racism just an American issue? Or do you also experience it in the Netherlands\, in your home country or in social media? Is the worldwide perspective on racism changing after the death of George Floyd? Are the demonstrations against racism and police brutality helping the cause? Are we doing enough to eradicate racism? Could we do something better? How do we feel about statues and street names of colonizers\, politicians and writers from the slavery period? \nEveryone is welcome and participation is for free! You can register via the red button and let us know if you need help logging into Zoom. We welcome people without prior experience with Zoom or online dialogues to join 30 mins earlier. \nBlack Lives Matter\nDo you experience racial discrimination or police brutality? How do you then react? Who and what supports you on fighting racism and violence? Do you feel that the current demonstrations and press headlines are leading to changes of perspectives? Is your own approach to racism changing now? How do you think racism should be approached worldwide and in your hometown? Should we talk and demonstrate more actively to fight it? Should we fight it differently? Characteristics of such a dialogue is that you listen attentively to each other with curiosity an an open heart without judging or trying to convince the others. Through dialogue\, you seek deeper insights to better understand each other. This way of conducting a conversation takes place in small groups of 6 to a maximum of 8 participants\, with a trained dialogue facilitator.
